UvA rises from 63rd to 59th place in the 2018 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This year, the UvA is also the highest ranked Dutch university on this global rankings list (published on 05 September).

Earlier in June, the UvA also rose in the THE World Reputation Rankings. The reputation index measures 100 universities with the best reputations and is part of the newly released overall rankings list.

To compile its rankings, Times Higher Education uses a methodology with in total 13 performance indicators distributed over five broad categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%). The UvA has scored highest in the area of research.
